artist bio
It's so refreshing when an artist offers transparency with their art & so mutually beneficial - so healing for both them & us when they are able to do this while holding space & sanctuary for themselves as well.
This is the wave that Suai Kee rides these days with songs that reflect the ebbing & flowing of the heart, a new confidence that one can only gather doing soul work & the victory that is gained as a result.
As a creative she is not new to this. In early 2005 her unmistakable talent got her signed to Motown Records & since then she has been ever unfolding adding a B.A. in Film, continuing to mentor teens, touring with artists like Estelle & Solange, & starting her own label, Fire Sign Recordings, to name only a few of her recent undertakings.
In her current work as an independent singer - producer you can see and feel in all her transparency the powerful effects of her commitment to a spiritual practice (not quite Buddhist but her Gohonzon altar candles stay lit), wellness practice (vegan diet & yoga practitioner) & how she has been transformed.
She is part unicorn, whole self savior & all of the unapologetic Black Girl Magic you've read about. She brings with her the whole East Side of Detroit & all of its conjure. She is her ancestors wildest dreams & if you pay attention, the music might awaken you to your own.

From Suai…
I have a deep desire to heal and free myself and anyone else wanting to do the same. My passions are creating healing music, promoting whole body wellness through diet, prayer, meditation, therapy, yoga, and youth mentoring.
I have 9+ years of music teaching experience at the private and group levels. I’ve taught in inner-city and suburban classrooms in southeast Michigan and Atlanta, GA. I began practicing yoga in 2013, and completed RYT200 training in 2018.
